First of all, I have to give a HUGE thank you to all of my amazing Room 21 families for sending in flowers, cards, hugs, chocolates and more this week. It was such a great surprise. An even bigger thank you to one of my room parents, Subhapriya (Hari's mom), for orchestrating a special Teacher's Appreciation Week/Birthday Celebration just for me! I loved the Teacher Appreciation banner that was made for me, as well as all of the sweet notes that were attached to it! I am truly blessed. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
It has been a very long two weeks with conferences! Thank you to each and every one of you for showing up to conferences. It means so much to me that you take time out of your busy schedules to meet with me. Just as a reminder, report cards will be coming out next Friday, November 17th. Due to the amount of talking I did during conferences, I ended up losing my voice on Friday! The kids were AMAZING, and followed directions so well that I barely needed to talk all day.
This week we started working on three digit division. This is a tricky concept, but the kids have worked very hard practicing this skill. I have also introduced HyperDocs to the class. HyperDocs are a fun and interactive way for students to learn new information, practice skills, and collaborate. So far, we have done several different HyperDoc's including a Veteran's Day doc, a Math doc, and a Presidential Election themed doc. The kids have really seemed to enjoy it.
In PAC, we practice a few games that will help with our balance. We also practiced playing soccer as well! We have really been working on teamwork both inside the classroom and on the playground.
Room 21 also had two special guests this week, my parents! My parents were in town to celebrate my birthday and were so excited to meet the class. The kids got a kick out of asking them questions about what I was like when I was in fourth grade. They were also very excited to have them participate in our Failure Friday discussion!
This coming week, we will be starting our next unit in Social Studies. We will be focusing on Native Americans and where they lived in California.
It will be a full and busy week this week, but we are so close to Thanksgiving break! I do have one request, we are approaching cold season and we have begun to run out of tissues. If by chance you happen to have an extra box or two, our noses would really appreciate it! Thanks!
