I hope everybody had a wonderful break. As we enter the last months of school, we have been very busy!
Today, we took our end of module test for Module 6, which was all about decimals. Students overall have been doing well with the concept of decimals and money. We will next be going on to some geometry, as well as reviewing in preparation for the SBAC.
Science has been a busy time as we learn about Earth and rocks. In the Makerspace, we have been working on creating volcano alert systems using Lego We-do. The projects are turning out to be really cool! In class, we have studied about erosion and other land changes.
We have been studying about zoos in our writing class. We are researching and forming opinions on whether we are pro zoos or con zoos. The students have come up with a lot of interesting facts and reasons why they are on the side they have chosen.
In social studies, we have been reading about the Rancho era. Students will be doing projects where they create their own disenos(maps of their land).
Cereal box reports will be due April 30th, which the presentations being shown May 1-4. Hopefully your child has finished their books and have begun working on their cereal boxes. If students are in need of paper to cover their boxes or an actual cereal box, please let me know.
Science project papers have been sent out this week in our Wednesday envelopes. Students need to pick a topic and a question to research by Monday, April 23rd. I will be approving questions that are able to be answered using the scientific method. Students are responsible to complete this project primarily at home, and need to be filling out the steps found in their science packet. Please check the science project tab on this website for some more information, as well as copies of the packet.
We are in need of 4th grade parents to help our Home and School Club with fundraising for students 5th grade Science Camp. If you are interested, please email me and I will forward your information.
Our Gold Rush carnival is also right around the corner in June. We are in need of parents willing to volunteer for the carnival on June 5th, but we are also in need or parents to help organize this event. Again, if you are interested, please email me and I will connect you to the correct people.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me.
Have a wonderful weekend!
