Hello Room 21 Families!
What a fun week we have had! This week we had the opportunity to go on a virtual field trip to the Kelp Forest. We had a great park ranger who took time to answer each child's questions. The kids thought it was absolutely amazing. What an amazing time we live in that we have the privilege to utilize such technology!
We have also started reading, Pax, as our Fall read aloud. We are participating in the Global Read Aloud program. This program gives us the chance to connect with another classroom across the country. Our class has been connected with a classroom in Illinois. We will be able to have Google Hangout sessions with them a few times during the duration of the book.
In Science we took a look at different minerals. We learned about properties and how to tell minerals a part. We also did experiments to figure out the hardness of different minerals.
We have started our next narrative writing prompt. This prompt is titled "The Magic Ring". Students find a ring and have to describe where the ring takes them, as well as what sorts of adventures they go on. We are in the revising stage, and they are turning out amazing!
To end the week, we had our student council elections. Congratulations to all our students that ran! They all did such a wonderful job delivering their speeches in front of the entire fourth and fifth grade students. We have two of our very own students from room 21 that have joined the student council. Hasini has been elected Treasurer, and Tyrone has been elected Secretary. Congrats!
Next week is Pink Week. A flyer went home about it this week. Monday is where a pink top/sweater day. I will be updating what each day is on the Homework page.
Thank you to our lovely Art Vista helpers; Mrs. Woo, and Mrs. Khandelwal! We had our first Art Vista today and it was a hit. Check out Class Dojo for photos.
We have also been given the theme of "Harry Potter" as our raffle prize basket for this year's Harvest Festival. Any Harry Potter themed items such as books, movies, clothes, wands, donations etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Have a great weekend!
